A treasure hunt
about Sherlock Holmes
Presentation
This treasure hunt is for years 9 or 10. Its aim is
to have students discover who Sherlock Holmes is and
learn about him. It can be carried out in one or two
lessons.
Some textbooks have a chapter called “Mystery
and fiction “. This treasure hunt may help to
introduce the theme or take your pupils a step further.
Procedure
You may start with
showing a profile of Sherlock Holmes on a transparency
or with a video projector. Ask your students to make
guesses.
Then, students go
on their treasure hunt. Download the printable version here.
When they have finished, they will be able to write
Sherlock Holmes’s identity card!
Finally, ask your students to report to the
class!
As follow-up work, you may
ask your students to write the identity cards of other
famous detectives.
